Global Circumnavigation

Home » Uncategorized » so once at the trail head we hiked 8 more km up 700m to the top of this ridge were we spent the night in a very nice campsite all by ourselves (no other campers at the site or even near by sites) . we then got up the next day to explore an archaeological site on the mounted top and get our first views of the famous city of Machu Picchu from across the valley. we also got to see some interesting local wildlife and did our first ever hike on a rail way tracks as we finally work our way to the town just short of Machu Picchu. this was a crazy 40 or so km hike over 2 days. with a lot of weight on our backs. so much so we decided to donated our tent to the couple who were building the campsite on the mountain top as we have finished are camping for this trip around the world and wanted to reduce our weight for the descent.
