Global Circumnavigation

Home » Uncategorized » despite our efforts to arrive before the crowds, the line to see the giant buddha of Leshan was 3 hours long by 8am when we arrived :o (the popular national holiday travel time strikes again!). well we decided to see what else there was to see around in this large Buddhist temple complex, and try the line again in the afternoon. and what a lucky brake that line turned out to be as there was so much to see here, I can’t speak highly enough about this area as it can just take your breath away. I was particularly . surprised with the large Buddha sculptures that had been carved within the cave system, some of the sculptures were 32 m tall, I felt like I was inside a movie set for an Indiana Jones movie but it was real life. then after that experience we tried that line again and after 40minutes in line we were able to see the giant buddha of Leshan which was our original goal but had turned into a nice bonus to be able to see after having visited all these other wonderful places just with in walking distance.
